Senior Director of Marketing & Social Media, Roost

Derek brings more than 15 years of technology and real estate experience to his role as Senior Director of Marketing & Social Media at Roost. Prior to his current position, Derek spent more than five years as the Vice President of Marketing at Intero Real Estate Services where he oversaw all the marketing activities for the international broker.

Prior to his positions at Intero, Derek oversaw or consulted on various marketing, advertising and public relations duties at a multitude of startups and established global brands including eHome, SoMA Real Estate, Gateway, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sotheby’s International Realty and Alain Pinel Realtors.

Derek has a huge passion for social media and blogging and is the primary voice at the Roost blog, as well as the company’s Facebook Page. His social media experience and network have expanded greatly over the last several years and this has helped him elevate the Roost brand, as well as his own. He is active and integrated on almost every social media platform including, but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Gowalla, YouTube, Yammer, GetGlue and Flickr.

Derek is also responsible for broker and agent training on Facebook as well as the Roost Social Media Toolkit. This has him executing webinars and producing training materials to help users understand the details of using Facebook effectively and implementing the Facebook application.

Derek holds a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from California State University at Fullerton.
